State Funded ACT Testing

From February 25th - 27th, DACC will administer the State-Funded ACT to all FULL-DAY JUNIORS.

Benefits of taking the ACT may include:

  • Increase in chances of admission to competitive colleges and universities

  • Qualify for scholarships and financial aid

  • Gauge academic progress and identify areas for improvement

Some reasons why students may not need/want to take the ACT include:

  • Preferring the SAT: Your student plans to take the SAT  at their Home High School instead of the ACT.

  • College or Career Path: Your student’s post-graduation plans do not require the ACT (e.g., trade school, workforce, or community college).

  • Test-Optional Colleges: Your student is applying to colleges that do not require ACT scores for admission.

If you do NOT want your FULL-DAY JUNIOR to take the ACT at DACC in February 2025, please complete this ACT Opt-Out form by  Friday, January 10.

More information about ACT Testing can be found here

Digital Privacy - SB29

Delaware Area Career Center is notifying you that, as required by Ohio Senate Bill 29, it monitors school-issued devices for student interactions, such as keystrokes and web browsing. This monitoring is done for educational purposes, technical support, exam proctoring, and safety. No new monitoring services have been implemented; this notice is in compliance with SB29, effective October 24, 2024. A list of technology providers that interact with student data is available.

Delays and Closings

When DACC is delayed or canceled due to weather, you will receive instant alerts through the contact information you provided at registration. Alerts will be sent to you by email, phone call, and text message. If you download the DACC app, you will also receive a push notification on your phone.

In addition, notices will be posted to our website and social media accounts.

When you receive the delay or closure alert, make sure you know what to do by referencing our Delay & Closures page on our website. Many parents bookmark this page for future reference.

Fees

We would like to remind you that fees for the 2024-2025 school year are now due. You can check your fee balances on PowerSchool. Additionally, charges have been applied to the accounts of students who have received a new Chromebook. For more information, visit the fees webpage or reach out to Lilian Robinson at 740-203-2230 if you have any questions.

Academic Hybrid Fridays

Full-Day Students Only

During Academic Hybrid Fridays, all DACC academic students will be expected to complete online assignments in lieu of attending academic classes on Fridays. This academic model emphasizes 21st-century workplace skills, empowers students to utilize technology, improves independence, and provides more opportunities to participate in work-based learning.

Here is a comprehensive FAQ about the program.

Illness Procedure

At the Delaware Area Career Center, we prioritize the well-being and academic success of our students. If a student feels unwell after they have already arrived on campus, we encourage them to visit the clinic, where our healthcare professional will provide care and support. In the event that a student needs to go home, we will personally contact a parent or guardian to arrange this. The student will then be able to leave directly from the clinic as soon as their ride arrives, streamlining the process for everyone.

We kindly ask that students refrain from directly contacting parents to pick them up during school hours. This approach ensures minimal disruption to classes and allows our teachers to maintain an effective learning environment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this collaborative effort to support our students' health and education.

Attendance and Transportation

Regardless of the first day of school in your home district, transportation will be running from the home schools to DACC beginning August 14th.

If you know in advance that your child will be absent or tardy, fill out the Absence Form found on our website or the homepage of the DACC app.

See our Attendance FAQ for more information as well as calendars to all of our home schools and contact information for home school transportation departments.

DACC App

Canvas

Canvas

At DACC, we are using Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas is a web-based learning management system that gives instructors, students, and parents access to view and manage online course learning materials.

Additionally, the system empowers instructors, students, and parents to communicate about skill development and learning achievement.

Visit our website for more detailed information about Canvas, including:

  • How to set up an account

  • How students can set up a pairing code for a parent or guardian (get started with instructions on how to set up a pairing code here)

  • What you can and cannot do with Canvas

  • How to download the app

PowerSchool

We also use Powerschool to display student grades and attendance.

While Canvas provides an interactive view of what is currently being assigned and submitted in a given class, PowerSchool publishes grades and attendance when that information has been finalized and submitted by the instructor. We encourage all parents and students to log into PowerSchool regularly to review these items.

More information about Powerschool and how to set up your account can be found on our website here. Please note that if you are already using PowerSchool at your student's associate district, you will need to create a new account for DACC using a different email address than the email address you are already using for your existing account.
