Christian Science Monitor Shines a Spotlight on Career and Technical Education in Ohio
The Christian Science Monitor, an internationally recognized publication, is interested in discovering more about how Ohio supports career and technical education. We were happy to host reporter, Ira Porter, for a behind-the-scenes look at what DACC students are capable of achieving in their classes. Read his 3-part series here:
‘This is fun.’ How Zoo School helps teens prep for careers – and college.
Intel is coming. Ohio community colleges say the state’s workers will be ready.
Over the past few weeks, DACC students have had the opportunity to connect with local employers through healthcare and biotechnology career expos. Now, parents can gain insights directly from industry leaders and learn about the skills their students will need to succeed in the future workplace.
Join us for a Future of Work event at DACC on November 13th from 6-7pm!
The program will feature a presentation on key workforce trends shaping Central Ohio, followed by a panel of experts from biotechnology, healthcare, and life sciences. They will share what’s on the horizon for these growing fields and discuss the “future-ready” skills that can set students up for success.

On October 18, 2024, eight student officers from the DACC SkillsUSA Chapter attended an Officer Leadership Conference at Deer Creek Lodge in Mt. Sterling, OH. The conference was a chance for students to go through leadership sessions and help them prepare to run their local chapter for the school year. Sessions included topics such as How to run a Community Service Project, How to Run a Chapter Meeting, Job Interview Skills, and more. Students left with a wealth of knowledge to share with the chapter members at DACC.
SkillsUSA is the largest CTSO at DACC with over 450 members in 11 different CTE programs.

DACC Celebrates 50 Years: Alumni and Former Staff Reception
This year, DACC is celebrating a significant milestone—50 years of providing exceptional career and technical education! Since we first opened our doors in September 1974, we’ve been committed to empowering, preparing, inspiring, and connecting students to future opportunities, and we couldn’t have done it without the dedication and support of our alumni and former staff. To mark this special occasion, we’re inviting all DACC alumni and former staff to join us for a 50th Anniversary Reception.

Delaware Area Career Center is notifying you that, as required by Ohio Senate Bill 29, it monitors school-issued devices for student interactions, such as keystrokes and web browsing. This monitoring is done for educational purposes, technical support, exam proctoring, and safety. No new monitoring services have been implemented; this notice is in compliance with SB29, effective October 24, 2024. A list of technology providers that interact with student data is available.

In addition, notices will be posted to our website and social media accounts.

We would like to remind you that fees for the 2024-2025 school year are now due. You can check your fee balances on PowerSchool. Additionally, charges have been applied to the accounts of students who have received a new Chromebook. For more information, visit the fees webpage or reach out to Lilian Robinson at 740-203-2230 if you have any questions.
Full-Day Students Only
During Academic Hybrid Fridays, all DACC academic students will be expected to complete online assignments in lieu of attending academic classes on Fridays. This academic model emphasizes 21st-century workplace skills, empowers students to utilize technology, improves independence, and provides more opportunities to participate in work-based learning.
At the Delaware Area Career Center, we prioritize the well-being and academic success of our students. If a student feels unwell after they have already arrived on campus, we encourage them to visit the clinic, where our healthcare professional will provide care and support. In the event that a student needs to go home, we will personally contact a parent or guardian to arrange this. The student will then be able to leave directly from the clinic as soon as their ride arrives, streamlining the process for everyone.
We kindly ask that students refrain from directly contacting parents to pick them up during school hours. This approach ensures minimal disruption to classes and allows our teachers to maintain an effective learning environment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this collaborative effort to support our students' health and education.
Regardless of the first day of school in your home district, transportation will be running from the home schools to DACC beginning August 14th.
If you know in advance that your child will be absent or tardy, fill out the Absence Form found on our website or the homepage of the DACC app.
See our Attendance FAQ for more information as well as calendars to all of our home schools and contact information for home school transportation departments.
At DACC, we are using Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas is a web-based learning management system that gives instructors, students, and parents access to view and manage online course learning materials.
Additionally, the system empowers instructors, students, and parents to communicate about skill development and learning achievement.
Visit our website for more detailed information about Canvas, including:
How to set up an account
How students can set up a pairing code for a parent or guardian (get started with instructions on how to set up a pairing code here)
What you can and cannot do with Canvas
How to download the app
We also use Powerschool to display student grades and attendance.
While Canvas provides an interactive view of what is currently being assigned and submitted in a given class, PowerSchool publishes grades and attendance when that information has been finalized and submitted by the instructor. We encourage all parents and students to log into PowerSchool regularly to review these items.
More information about Powerschool and how to set up your account can be found on our website here. Please note that if you are already using PowerSchool at your student's associate district, you will need to create a new account for DACC using a different email address than the email address you are already using for your existing account.
