DACC Students and Families,
Thank you to our incredible staff and students for helping make the first of our three Sophomore Visit Days a success. Your energy, professionalism, and warm welcome created an engaging and memorable experience for visiting students as they explored future opportunities at DACC.
We were especially excited to debut a new video highlighting our academic programs, featuring Diego Jimenez, Maxine Rojas-Bruno, Liam Thornton, and Kylee Warmath. We encourage you to take a few moments to hear their reflections and see the impact of our academic experience through their eyes.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us at 740-548-0708.

Three seniors from DACC’s Biotechnology lab recently testified before the Ohio Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee, gaining valuable experience in science policy and public advocacy. Their testimony supported Senate Bill 111, which would designate Oct. 4 as “Henrietta Lacks Day” in Ohio, honoring the woman whose cells revolutionized modern medicine. Through DACC’s partnership with Ohio Life Sciences, the students have visited the Statehouse multiple times this fall to meet lawmakers, attend hearings, and learn about the policy side of the life sciences industry.

Delaware County Childcare Needs Assessment - Survey
|
|
|
The survey is being conducted at the behest of the Delaware County Workforce Alliance (DCWA). The DCWA - a working group of local educators, businesses, public officials, and non-profits coordinated by the Delaware County Office of Economic Development - provides a forum for sharing information and ideas about the local workforce ecosystem. Its goal is to better prepare and connect Delaware County residents with local employment opportunities while supporting the talent needs of existing and prospective employers.
Data and feedback received by the DCWA suggests that limited access to quality, affordable childcare may be an impediment to employee retention and a barrier for non-workers considering new job opportunities. DCWA stakeholder members would appreciate your participation in this childcare survey that will help document challenges with childcare availability and costs, while guiding future discussions to address them strategically here in Delaware County. Thank you for your engagement in this effort.

On Hybrid Fridays, students will not attend their Academic classes in person. Instead, they will complete assignments online at their own pace. This model encourages students to take ownership of their learning in a flexible, real-world format. This innovative approach supports the development of essential 21st-century skills such as digital literacy, independence, and time management, while also opening the door for expanded work-based learning opportunities.
Here is a comprehensive FAQ about the program.

At DACC, we prioritize the well-being and academic success of our students. If a student feels unwell after they have already arrived on campus, we encourage them to visit the clinic, where our healthcare professional will provide care and support. In the event that a student needs to go home, we will personally contact a parent or guardian to arrange this. The student will then be able to leave directly from the clinic as soon as their ride arrives, streamlining the process for everyone.
We kindly ask that students refrain from directly contacting parents to pick them up during school hours. This approach ensures minimal disruption to classes and allows our teachers to maintain an effective learning environment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this collaborative effort to support our students' health and education.

At DACC, we are using Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas is a web-based learning management system that gives instructors, students, and parents access to view and manage online course learning materials.
Additionally, the system empowers instructors, students, and parents to communicate about skill development and learning achievement.
Visit our website for more detailed information about Canvas, including:
|
We also use PowerSchool to display student grades and attendance.
While Canvas provides an interactive view of what is currently being assigned and submitted in a given class, PowerSchool publishes grades and attendance when that information has been finalized and submitted by the instructor. We encourage all parents and students to log into PowerSchool regularly to review these items.
More information about PowerSchool and how to set up your account can be found on our website here. Please note that if you are already using PowerSchool at your student's associate district, you will need to create a new account for DACC using a different email address than the email address you are already using for your existing account.
