Dear DACC Students and Families,
Yesterday, we were thrilled to host our annual Fall Festival at DACC, bringing together students and staff for a day of connection and celebration. This event provided a wonderful opportunity for everyone to connect beyond their lab programs and academic classes, showcasing their unique talents and skills in a fun, welcoming environment. The energy and enthusiasm shared by all truly highlighted the strong sense of community we value at DACC, and we’re grateful to everyone who made the day memorable!

Important Information for Current DACC Students
The Delaware Area Career Center is excited to be host visits with area 10th grade students, known as “Sophomore Visit Days.”. This year, prospective students will be visiting the DACC campus on the following days:
Friday, November 22
Monday, November 25
Tuesday, November 26
Because all DACC staff will be involved in organizing, presenting, and creating engaging learning experiences for the visiting 10th graders, these days will not be “typical” school days for current students.
Current DACC students will be doing one of the following activities on each of these days:
Attend school as a Student Assistant (only if requested by their instructor)
Job shadow a professional in their chosen field of study (required at least one of the days)
Complete a hybrid learning assignment
Continue on Work-Based Learning, if already approved and participating
Students may also elect to conduct college visits during this time
NOTE: Full-day students will also be given a hybrid assignment to be completed for each academic class for each of the 3 Sophomore Visit Days.
Not turning in required assignments or proof of job shadowing and/or college visit would mean that the day(s) of school missed will be counted as an unexcused absence(s).
Please look for your student to bring home Job Shadow Experience Forms in the coming days, or you can find them here.
We are proud of our programs and believe that we offer unique and valuable educational options for area students. We appreciate your support for this important endeavor.
Parents of middle and high school students - no matter what your students' high school, college, and career paths include, our goal for them is to have happy and fulfilling careers. The challenge for all parents is keeping up with the ever-changing workforce and the needs of employers.
DACC is here to help you prepare your student for the future! Join us on November 13th from 6:00 -7:00 pm for a Future of Work presentation and panel discussion with local employers focused on the fields of healthcare, biotechnology, and life sciences. Discover the ‘future-ready skills’ your student needs to succeed in our ever-changing workplace.
We have been asked to collect peanut butter and jelly for people in need in our Delaware Community. Collections will run from November 4th to November 17th. Our goal is 650 jars of each. Donations will be collected in your students' lab classroom.
Please consider donating to this great cause to support our community.
Please be advised that Delaware Area Career Center, either directly or through a technology provider, is electing to generally monitor all school-issued devices (as that term is defined by R.C. 3319.325). The monitoring will include the following features: student interactions with school-issued devices (e.g., keystrokes and web-browsing activity). Delaware Area Career Center generally monitors these features, as permitted by law, including for the noncommercial education purpose of instruction, technical support, and/or when exam proctoring. Additionally, these features are generally monitored as a necessary precaution for preventing and/or responding to threats to life or safety.
Technology providers that interact with student data can be found here.
Please note that Delaware Area Career Center has NOT implemented any new or changed monitoring services. This notice is a new requirement per Ohio Senate Bill 29 (“SB29”) that was passed by the Ohio General Assembly at the end of June 2024, was signed by Governor DeWine on July 24, 2024, and becomes effective on October 24, 2024.
DACC Celebrates 50 Years: Alumni and Former Staff Reception
This year, DACC is celebrating a significant milestone—50 years of providing exceptional career and technical education! Since we first opened our doors in September 1974, we’ve been committed to empowering, preparing, inspiring, and connecting students to future opportunities, and we couldn’t have done it without the dedication and support of our alumni and former staff. To mark this special occasion, we’re inviting all DACC alumni and former staff to join us for a 50th Anniversary Reception.
Learn More About This Event
DACC has an online school spirit store where you can purchase your favorite clothing items and accessories and have them delivered directly to your home. Most designs can be customized to include your lab name or our vision to empower, prepare, inspire, and connect all students.
If you've ever wanted to find out why your child enjoys coming to DACC every day, see for yourself what they experience and learn a little more about their career ambitions. In select programs, we are offering evening classes for adults, including:
Microsoft 365 Excel Basic - 11/7
Microsoft 365 Excel Intermediate - 12/03
Advanced Welding PT 2 - 01/07
Microsoft 365 Word - 01/23
For the most up-to-date course offerings, visit the Adult Education website.
When DACC is delayed or canceled due to weather, you will receive instant alerts through the contact information you provided at registration. Alerts will be sent to you by email, phone call, and text message. If you download the DACC app, you will also receive a push notification on your phone.
In addition, notices will be posted to our website and social media accounts.
When you receive the delay or closure alert, make sure you know what to do by referencing our Delay & Closures page on our website. Many parents bookmark this page for future reference.
We would like to remind you that fees for the 2024-2025 school year are now due. You can check your fee balances on PowerSchool. Additionally, charges have been applied to the accounts of students who have received a new Chromebook. For more information, visit the fees webpage or reach out to Lilian Robinson at 740-203-2230 if you have any questions.
Full-Day Students Only
During Academic Hybrid Fridays, all DACC academic students will be expected to complete online assignments in lieu of attending academic classes on Fridays. This academic model emphasizes 21st-century workplace skills, empowers students to utilize technology, improves independence, and provides more opportunities to participate in work-based learning.
At the Delaware Area Career Center, we prioritize the well-being and academic success of our students. If a student feels unwell after they have already arrived on campus, we encourage them to visit the clinic, where our healthcare professional will provide care and support. In the event that a student needs to go home, we will personally contact a parent or guardian to arrange this. The student will then be able to leave directly from the clinic as soon as their ride arrives, streamlining the process for everyone.
We kindly ask that students refrain from directly contacting parents to pick them up during school hours. This approach ensures minimal disruption to classes and allows our teachers to maintain an effective learning environment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this collaborative effort to support our students' health and education.
Regardless of the first day of school in your home district, transportation will be running from the home schools to DACC beginning August 14th.
If you know in advance that your child will be absent or tardy, fill out the Absence Form found on our website or the homepage of the DACC app.
See our Attendance FAQ for more information as well as calendars to all of our home schools and contact information for home school transportation departments.
At DACC, we are using Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas is a web-based learning management system that gives instructors, students, and parents access to view and manage online course learning materials.
Additionally, the system empowers instructors, students, and parents to communicate about skill development and learning achievement.
Visit our website for more detailed information about Canvas, including:
How to set up an account
How students can set up a pairing code for a parent or guardian (get started with instructions on how to set up a pairing code here)
What you can and cannot do with Canvas
How to download the app
We also use Powerschool to display student grades and attendance.
While Canvas provides an interactive view of what is currently being assigned and submitted in a given class, PowerSchool publishes grades and attendance when that information has been finalized and submitted by the instructor. We encourage all parents and students to log into PowerSchool regularly to review these items.
More information about Powerschool and how to set up your account can be found on our website here. Please note that if you are already using PowerSchool at your student's associate district, you will need to create a new account for DACC using a different email address than the email address you are already using for your existing account.
