Are You Interested in the Military?

Military

Tuesday, April 28, 8 AM in the DACC Board Room

DACC will host an ASVAB test on Tuesday, April 28th, at 8 AM in the Boardroom.

Pre-sign-up required. Space is limited.  Register with the Google Form by March 28th.

Students should take the ASVAB for one of the following reasons and must sign up:
1. Career Testing: The ASVAB is known as one of the best career tests available.
2. Military: This is a required test for the military. DACC does not give testing results to branches. You can choose to do that after you review your scores.
3. The Ohio Honors Diploma: The state of Ohio is allowing students who are missing one of the requirements to now substitute one of the options with a qualifying ASVAB score! (ie. Substituting the ACT score or GPA).
(Note: DACC does not supply the military with scores of the exam)

OST Testing And Attendance

As the Ohio State Tests (OST) are administered at our associate schools this spring, we understand that student schedules may be impacted. These assessments play a significant role in meeting state graduation requirements and demonstrating academic growth.

If your student will be missing part or all of their day at DACC due to OST testing, please notify us in advance. You may report absences through our absence form, the DACC app, or by calling the attendance office at 740-203-2268.

Thank you for your communication, and good luck to all students completing their OSTs this season!

Academic Hybrid Fridays

On Hybrid Fridays, students will not attend their Academic classes in person. Instead, they will complete assignments online at their own pace. This model encourages students to take ownership of their learning in a flexible, real-world format. This innovative approach supports the development of essential 21st-century skills such as digital literacy, independence, and time management, while also opening the door for expanded work-based learning opportunities.

Here is a comprehensive FAQ about the program.

Illness Procedure

At DACC, we prioritize the well-being and academic success of our students. If a student feels unwell after they have already arrived on campus, we encourage them to visit the clinic, where our healthcare professional will provide care and support. In the event that a student needs to go home, we will personally contact a parent or guardian to arrange this. The student will then be able to leave directly from the clinic as soon as their ride arrives, streamlining the process for everyone.

We kindly ask that students refrain from directly contacting parents to pick them up during school hours. This approach ensures minimal disruption to classes and allows our teachers to maintain an effective learning environment. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this collaborative effort to support our students' health and education.

Canvas and PowerSchool

At DACC, we are using Canvas as our Learning Management System (LMS). Canvas is a web-based learning management system that gives instructors, students, and parents access to view and manage online course learning materials.

Additionally, the system empowers instructors, students, and parents to communicate about skill development and learning achievement.

Visit our website for more detailed information about Canvas, including:

  • How to set up an account
  • How students can set up a pairing code for a parent or guardian (get started with instructions on how to set up a pairing code here)
  • What you can and cannot do with Canvas
  • How to download the app

We also use PowerSchool to display student grades and attendance.

While Canvas provides an interactive view of what is currently being assigned and submitted in a given class, PowerSchool publishes grades and attendance when that information has been finalized and submitted by the instructor. We encourage all parents and students to log into PowerSchool regularly to review these items.

More information about PowerSchool and how to set up your account can be found on our website here. Please note that if you are already using PowerSchool at your student's associate district, you will need to create a new account for DACC using a different email address than the email address you are already using for your existing account.

Attendance and Transportation

Regardless of the first day of school in your home district, transportation will be running from the home schools to DACC beginning August 13th.

If you know in advance that your child will be absent or tardy, fill out the Absence Form found on our website or the homepage of the DACC app.

See our Attendance FAQ for more information as well as calendars to all of our home schools and contact information for home school transportation departments.
